If you’ve been a Packer fan for more than 10-20 years you’ve been through a lot of ups and downs.
People on the outside see the Packers as always winning and everything going their way. That being said, any packer fan, long term or short, has experienced the edge of your seat games. I feel this season will be one of those years.
To me this season seems to be going along the path similar to that of season 2003.
Flashback, with the Saints beating the Cowboys for the wildcard spot, their chance for making the playoffs was to win the NFC North Division. Packers were tied with the Vikings. They needed a win and the Vikings to lose.
The Packers took care of business with a victory over the Broncos. Now, they needed the Underdog Cardinals to beat the Vikings. The Vikings were sitting on an 11 point lead in the 4th quarter and the Packers hopes seemed to be out the window.
Then out of nowhere, the Cardinals score and somehow recover an onside kick. The Cardinals end up winning the game in dramatic fashion with a fade to the corner of the end zone as time expired to defeat the Vikings. Then just like that, they were in.
Fast forward to the 2018 season. The last week of the season finishes off with Packers @ lions and Vikings @ Bears. I believe the Packers will go into week 17 tied for the NFC North with the Vikings. Since they wouldn’t have a tie breaker because of the tie during the season.
The season will end with the Packers needing to beat the Lions and go against their instincts to root for the Bears to knock off the Vikings. Maybe not so much cheer for a Bears victory as to cheer for a Vikings loss.
If this scenario plays out any where similar to this then we are in for a roller coaster of emotions throughout the season ending with a leap a faith week 17.
When it’s all over, as a Packer fan, let’s hope we land on the playoff side after the leap of faith.
